Google continues to transform its Nest subsidiary into a full-fledged home security brand to rival Amazon’s Ring, and a new update for 2021 shows just how serious the tech brand is about keeping your home safe. Nest has unveiled four new cameras, and all of them offer a smarter and more robust approach to home security.
Starting out, Google has updated the wired indoor Nest Cam to now feature offline recording when your internet goes down, and it’s slashed the price to $99.99 — making it the cheapest Nest Cam ever. But the real stars of the show are the three new battery-powered Nest Cams. There’s the first battery-powered Nest Doorbell Cam, a battery-powered indoor/outdoor Nest Cam, and Nest’s first connected Floodlight Camera. All of them feature the same handy offline storage capability as the new wired cam, and all four cameras have also grown smarter with their notifications. They can recognize people, animals, and package deliveries, and know to only notify you with important information so you’re not constantly being bombarded with alerts. The battery-powered Nest Cam and Nest Doorbell are available for preorder today, while the new wired Nest Cam and Floodlight Cam are coming soon.
