Garmin Adds Three High-Tech Wearables To Its ‘Approach’ Golf GPS Range

In October of 2010 Garmin introduced its first purpose-built golf GPS watch with the Approach S1. In the subsequent decade, the Kansas-based company has steadily rolled out a growing number of ever-more-advanced golf-specific gadgets and wearables under its Approach lineup. And with the 2021 Spring season now fully underway, Garmin has introduced the latest additions to the Approach family with the all-new S42, S12, and G12.

At the top of the range is the Garmin Approach S42, which boasts a 1.2” color touchscreen, a full-color bird’s eye view “Green View” feature, fitness tracking capabilities, shot tracking with AutoShot Detection, and more than 42,000 preloaded courses. The S12 offers many of the same amenities — including over 42K preloaded courses — only without the color display, AutoShot Detection, or fitness tracking. The last of this trio of golf gadgets is the Approach G12, which is similar to the S12, though is a clip-on device rather than a watch-style item. The G12 can also be paired with existing Garmin golf club trackers as well as the Garmin Golf App. Available now, the 2021 Garmin Approach S42, Approach S12, and Approach G12 are available now, with pricing set at $300, $200, and $150 respectively.
