Dodge’s 710HP Durango SRT Hellcat Is The World’s Most Powerful SUV

Dodge’s ultra-powerful Hellcat models have become some of the automotive industry’s favorite benchmarks for upcoming releases, and now, those benchmarks are about to be replaced by the brand’s next-gen models. For 2021, an entire suite of SRT variants has been unveiled by the American automaker, with the Dodge Durango Hellcat taking a figurative “rear-seat” to its siblings. The catch? It’s the world’s most powerful SUV.

When placed alongside the newly-revealed SRT Super Stock and Charger Hellcat Redeye, the Durango might not seem like the most prominent piece of newsworthy coverage. But if you thought that the platform wouldn’t pack a comparable punch; well, that was your first mistake. Not only does the Durango SRT Hellcat boast a 6.2L HEMI Hellcat V8 engine capable of an astounding 710 hp (and 645 lb-ft of torque), but it’s also been outfitted with a handful of performance and aesthetic upgrades, including a performance-inspired cockpit, enhanced front, and rear fender flares, Brembo six-piston brakes, and an upgraded suspension system that increases responsiveness and rebound by up to 20-percent. There’re even some experiential implementations, like Dodge’s Launch Control, and Launch Assist — both of which promote grip (and negate tire slip) during radical acceleration. Look for the limited-edition model to hit the dealership in 2021.
