Back in 2010, Can-Am launched the Commander in order to expand its ATV offerings to include a rugged SBS workhorse. While it may have been the brand’s first bonafide UTV at the time, that’s not to say it was any less of a complete offering. On the contrary — just a year after its launch it was already racking up Best Of The Best and Good Design awards alike.
With the announcement of the 2021 Commander lineup, Can-Am is taking the platform and turning things up to eleven. That’s because it now features a Rotax 1000R engine that can be fine-tuned through its SPORT and ECO drive modes, with the former opening the tap on all 100 horses and the latter enabling a quieter, more fuel-efficient ride. Coupled with some improved ground clearance and increased suspension travel (up to 15in for the XT), it makes for the most capable Commander to date. But the best part is that in addition to its already impressive 600lb dump cargo box, Can-Am has given the lineup 2,000lbs of towing capacity. In other words, whether you use it for work or for play, the Commander can get you out of any jam you encounter. It’s available now starting at $16,399.
