The Nürburgring — where legends are born and their competition goes to die. Few tracks have the same renown of this lengthy German monster, with it having claimed countless lives over the course of its many turns, elevation changes, and bumps. And to lap such a track for 24 hours — that’s a feat few can match.
In honor of its five victories in the 24 Hours on the Nürburgring race since 2012, Audi is releasing an R8 ‘Green Hell’ edition inspired by the R8 LMS racer. Finished in distinctive Tioman green paint, this R8 is as fitting an homage to “The Ring” as any. In order to look the part of its racier sibling, it features a matte styling package that adds highlights to the front end, sills, and diffuser, as well as further blacked-out details on the sideblades, mirror housings, and rear wing. To round out the look, it also sports a set of 20-inch wheels painted-to-match with some striking red details. And when it comes to the interior, the driver is enveloped in an abundance of Alcantara, with seats and steering wheel finished accordingly. Produced in the same factory as the R8 LMS, this model will be limited to 50 units and cost $273,000.
