For roughly the last century, Airstream has been producing its distinctive polished aluminum luxury trailers, and while the American outfit is best known for its vintage space-age-inspired offerings, Airstream remains in operation today and continues churning out new models year after year. And after its original launch in 2016, Airstream has now unveiled a revised version of its Basecamp — and X Package-equipped Basecamp — trailer for the 2021 model year.
The floor plan’s been revised, made taller, and stretched by 4’ — hence the Basecamp 20 name — with a new panoramic window setup wrapping around an all-new U-shaped dinette that can convert into a bed in just 30 seconds, and the kitchen now spread throughout the galley. There’s also a larger convertible rear bed a new exterior shower fed by an upgraded continuous, tankless hot water heater, and the entire trailer now comes prewired for Airstream Connected as standard. And, like the Basecamp 16, the Basecamp 20 is also offered with the X package, which converts the mobile dwelling to an off-road trailer via a 3” lift kit, off-road wheels shod in beefier Goodyear all-terrain tires, protected windows, and stainless steel rock guards. The Airstream Basecamp 20 and Basecamp 20X are both slated for a release later this summer.
