When Jeep announced that they were bringing back the Gladiator pickup, the automotive world couldn’t wait to have a look at it. And the Wrangler-based redux certainly didn’t disappoint those of us who knew what to expect. Then again, it wasn’t quite perfect. But it might be now that Hennessey has gotten their hands on it and transformed it into the Maximus 1000.
For the record, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator is already an impressive machine from tip to tail, ready for just about any adventure on or off the roads. But what Hennessey has managed with it is nothing shy of godly — including fitting it with a 6.2L supercharged V8 Hellcat engine that can churn out 1,000 horsepower and 933 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, the Maximus also gets a new stainless steel exhaust, 6″ lift kit, BFG 20″ KD off-road tires, custom leather upholstery, and so much more. It’s safe to say that the Maximus 1000 lives up to its on-the-nose namesake — Russell Crow’s character from Gladiator. But if you want one, you’ll have to act quickly and pony up $200,000, because only 24 will ever be built.
