Every year, the automotive industry’s most influential companies present their latest projects and vehicles at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show (SEMA). While this is the perfect staging area for information on upcoming models, bespoke customizations, and one-off editions, Ford has decided to go all-out with the introduction of various off-road-oriented models — a collection that includes the company’s most adored flagships. Now, they’ve introduced eight new specialized builds for the Escape and Explorer, arresting onlookers with a glimpse into the future of the brand’s capable SUVs.
The company’s 2020 Escape and Explorer have undergone a complete renovation, thanks to the integration of a handful of specially-selected aftermarket peripherals. The first, a sleek LGE-CTS Motorsports Urban Ford Escape, features Baja-inspired Eibach performance lowering springs, a custom Borla cat-back exhaust and Power Commander throttle control system, and Yakima mounts to make the seamless transition from blacktop to the trail. The next, an Air Design USA Ford Escape Sport Hybrid, brings custom 20-inch Forgiato Flow 001 wheels, Rugged black fender flares by Air Design, and silver skid plates into the mix for a more stylized silhouette. But the star of the show is the Blood Type Racing Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid; a rugged white/black variant that embraces the spirit of sustainable exploration through a half-inch suspension leveling kit, Ford Performance skid plate, 20-inch Ace Alloy AFF09 black chrome wheels, and a Borla cat-back exhaust outfitted with black chrome tips. On its roof, a customized Yakima carrier provides the perfect mounting point for two bespoke BTR Edition snowboards, provided by Blank.
