Ford and Shelby go together like bread and butter. That is to say, they’ve always managed to create an end result that’s greater than its constituent parts. And now, they’ve hit another major milestone together with the triumphant return of the Shelby Mustang GT500.

A fitting evolution to their iconic pony car, this 2020 year model is, most impressively, the most powerful street-legal Ford ever built. This is thanks largely to a 700+ horsepower supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine under its hood — giving it a 0-60 time of just over three seconds and a quarter-mile time just under 11 seconds. Of course, that’s hardly the only jaw-dropping factor making this performance vehicle a must-see. It also boasts high-tech Ford Performance race-tuned active chassis drive modes and an aerodynamic design that boosts downforce and improves thermal management. And that’s to say nothing of its fully-featured, connected interior. Best of all, it’s completely street legal. A release date and pricing have yet to be set, so we’ll be waiting to hear more about this pony supercar with bated breath.
