Ford’s Special-Edition Ranger ‘Thunder’ Is A Blacked-Out Pickup With A Raptor Engine

Ford loves releasing special-edition pickups. And if there’s one thing that we’re not so fond of, it’s the fact that the majority of their newest platforms are available solely in overseas markets. Such is the case with the 2020 Ranger “Thunder” — a limited take on the company’s most popular off-road pickup devised specifically for the European market.

The 2020 Ford Ranger “Thunder” retains its great-looking design and architecture, calling upon the same distinct body style to act as a prominent foundation for its limited-edition interior and exterior upgrades, which now arrive as part of a standard package. Outside, buyers will be treated to a menagerie of new features, including an Ebony Black front grille, load bay, rear bumper, skid plates, and fog light surrounds. Essentially, almost everything has been given a black redux, including the truck’s unique 3D ‘Thunder’ badges, which complement its Ebony leather upholstery and eye-catching interior embroidery. At its heart, the truck adopts the same bi-turbo 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine as its larger compatriot, the Ford Ranger, gifting it a respectable 210-horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Only 4,500 models are slated for production, so if you’re looking to get your hands on one, you’d better act fast.
