Although the Golden Age of convertibles has come and gone, the thirst for an equally immersive driving experience remains the same. For the drivers who still yearn for a one-of-a-kind interactive outing, the drop-top sports car is hard to beat — and now, Ferrari has announced its newest open-air platform, the 2020 F8 Spider.
The F8 arrives hot on the heels of the company’s F8 Tributo coupe and promises an intense, awe-inspiring experience for the brand’s enthusiastic followers. It’s set to replace Ferrari’s 488 Spider, and as such, it inherits the same 710-horsepower twin-turbo V8 as the 488 Pista, bringing track-focused performance to the forefront for the road-legal supercar. To keep the F8 Spider’s 211 mile-per-hour top speed in check, it’s been outfitted with a capable dual-clutch transmission, housing an electronic limited-slip differential and seven-speed gearbox. When everything is said and done, the convertible F8 sheds a staggering 44-pounds off of its already-slimline silhouette, helping it to clock in at just 44 more than the company’s lauded 488 Pista Spider.
