While there’s still a market for massive, over-the-top trucks, we’re happy to see that auto manufacturers have settled down a bit — focusing instead on improving and refining some of their more reasonable vehicles. For instance, Dodge’s Ram 1500 has been a staple of the midsize pickup truck space for decades but has just gotten a huge boost for the 2020 model year.

According to the brand, the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel will be the most powerful and capable vehicle of its class once it is unleashed. This is because its third-generation 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine has been upgraded to a class-topping 480 foot-pounds of torque and an 8% horsepower increase to 260. Those figures also mean this pickup has some immense towing capabilities, topping out at a capacity of 12,560 pounds. On top of all that power, the truck also gets an exclusive air suspension that improves on- and off-road capabilities as well as fuel economy. There’s no word yet on pricing and availability, but we expect to hear more soon.
