BMW Unleashes Their Most Powerful M2 Performance Coupe Ever

When it comes to German performance cars, BMW’s M-series lineup is amongst the most lauded and beloved. From the compact M2 coupe on up to the hulking X5 M SUV, each ranks at the top of their class. The former just got another addition to its ranks in the form of the 2020 M2 CS — the most powerful factory M2 the brand has ever built.

A sporty, limited-run, special-edition model, the M2 CS looks like it was bred to go fast — and it very much can. That’s because, under the hood, you’ll find a 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine that pumps out 450 horsepower and over 405 foot-pounds of torque. That means this lightweight speeder can do 0-62 in 4.0 seconds flat and has an electronically-limited top speed of 174mph. They’ve also swapped several body panels for carbon fiber ones — including a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic hood and roof that are both 50% lighter than ever. It’s not clear if this comet of a coupe will be available in the USA, but it’s slated to have a starting price of $105,000.
