It’s not often that a sport sedan is as refined as its coupe-style cousin, but Mercedes-AMG has finally found a way to break free of that notion. The company’s newly introduced CLA 35 inherits nearly all of the same architecture as the similarly-built A35 — only this time, in an anticipated four-door sedan variant.
The CLA 35 4MATIC is a sporty new four-door that makes use of Mercedes’ turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, ushering in 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque — the same as its A35 counterpart. A lightened front suspension and upgraded braking components serve to keep the vehicle’s variable four-wheel, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic in check, allowing for an identical distribution of power and torque to the front and rear of the car. Slotted rotors, four-piston front calipers, and increased torsional stiffness only add to the car’s great handling characteristics, while a fully revised infotainment system with MBUX voice commands, 10.25-inch screens, and an active distance assistant dubbed DISTRONIC serve to further refine the consumer driving experience. If you’re interested in pricing and availability information for the car, you’ll have to wait in line — the company is prepping for a full reveal in the coming months.
