SVE Revives GMC’s Legendary 455HP Syclone Performance Pickup Truck

Way back in 1991, GMC took an intriguing risk — producing a version of their Sonoma pickup truck loaded to the gills with performance parts. And the risk paid off, as the Syclone ended up becoming perhaps the most legendary sport truck ever built. Now, as an homage to that race-ready icon, Specialty Vehicle Engineering is reviving the Syclone with a limited run for 2019.

Since the Sonoma is long-gone, this new version of the GMC Syclone is actually based on the 2019 GMC Canyon — both in 2WD and 4WD extended cab configurations. Of course, the spirit of that drag-ready racer is still very much intact, thanks to a supercharged 3.6L V6 engine under the hood that’s good for 455 horsepower. To cope with all that power, the Syclone also gets a high-performance brake upgrade with 6-piston forged front calipers and slotted front rotors for extreme stopping power. Other upgrades include a Sport Suspension Package, a stainless steel cat-back dual exhaust, and sinister styling (along with Syclone badging) both inside and out. Only 100 of these trucks will ever be made, but you’ll have to reach out for pricing and availability.
