It’s become common practice within the camera world to push the envelope when it comes to sensor sizes, innovative tech, and intuitive systems — and lately, the “presentation” of the aforementioned traits has become something of a competitive battleground for manufacturers. Sony is no stranger to the small-bodied camera realm, and now, they’ve bolstered their lineup even further with the RXO II compact camera.

The RXO II is being touted as Sony’s smallest and most lightweight premium camera offering, seeking to challenge the likes of GoPro and similar action-oriented camera manufacturers. At just 4.65 ounces, this minimalist (2.3″ x 1.6″ x 1.4″) capture device attributes its stunning photo and video quality to its luxurious Zeiss-helmed 24mm f/4 lens, coupled with the brand’s 15.3-megapixel Exmor RS sensor and BIONZ X image processor. It features a tiltable LCD screen that allows for intuitive use during high- and low-angle shooting, as well as in-body image stabilization, a shock, water, and dustproof body, and an ISO sensitivity of 80-12,800. For the video aficionados out there, Sony has made sure to include 4K capture at 30 fps with their proprietary Slog2 profile, as well as 1080p at 120 fps. We’ve barely scratched the surface of the RXO II, but don’t fret — you can learn more about the camera and its upcoming release on Sony’s website.
