When it comes to big auto conventions, like the Geneva Motor Show, we’ve come to expect the big-name brands to pull out all the stops and offer up some magnificent reveals. Yet, every year, we find ourselves the most intrigued by the out-of-left-field surprises. In this case, it’s the Puritalia Berlinetta hybrid supercar that was just unveiled.

While most other manufacturers are taking a hard stance on either petrol or electric power, the Puritalia Berlinetta strikes the perfect balance — with a V8 gas engine under the hood and a plug-in electric motor on the rear axle, which combine for a whopping 965 horsepower and 920 foot-pounds of torque. That power plant, which has a seven-speed manual paddle-shifted transmission, also means it does 0-62 in just 2.7 seconds and has a top speed of 208 mph. All the more interesting, the hybrid system also incorporates the use of artificial intelligence alongside real-time road conditions and the driver’s style to coordinate optimal performance. And there’s even an optional temporary torque boost that bumps up the power of the electric motor for an added 45-second boost. Needless to say, we’ll be waiting with bated breath to find out more about the pricing and availability of this beauty.
