Aside from the regularly customized platforms that we see on a daily basis, something can be said about a purist motorcycle that’s only been outfitted to operate on necessity. Full Moon Cycle’s 1960 Harley-Davidson Sportster XLCH drag survivor is one such vehicle, boasting an insanely accurate silhouette that’s been restored to pristine running condition.

The 1960 Harley began its tenure under Full Moon as a barn find, plucked straight from the owner in Ohio and brought back from the dead thanks to an extensive revitalization from the team. It was originally utilized as a drag racer, employing a number of parts from the Harley-Davidson catalog. A complete teardown of the bike warranted the introduction of a new set of spoked and trued wheels, all-original tires, and new gaskets all around. Upon closer inspection, Full Moon surmised that KHK stroker flywheels, hummer forks, XLR exhaust pipes, and Linkert carbs were used during the original build, alongside a customized KR frame that was modified to house a rear brake setup. While the bike retains a number of classic aesthetics and parts, it also embodies the purity of minimalist restoration — showing that the character of a true vintage motorcycle can sometimes overshadow a modernized update. The bike is currently listed for sale via eBay.
