Back in 2015, Microsoft debuted its first headset and became a pioneer in augmented reality technology. Since then, various tech companies have come out with their own versions of VR devices, such as the Oculus Rift and Sony’s Playstation VR. After four years, Microsoft is back with the sequel to the headset that started it all with the new wireless Hololens 2.

The carbon fiber Microsoft Hololens 2 will feature a mixed reality technology, as it can overlap images onto the real world. It also has an expanded field of view compared to the first iteration, as well as new eye-tracking sensors for more genuine hologram manipulation. The Hololens 2 also has a new ‘time-of-flight’ depth sensor, which allows it to track your hands so you can interact with holograms in 3D space, such as a virtual piano. In addition, it’s also packing an 8MP camera with 1080p video capabilities, a 5-mic system, a 2nd generation custom-built holographic processing unit, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 850 platform. As of this moment, the Hololens 2 is only meant for big business workplaces, but we’re hoping it will be offered to the public sometime in the future.
