It’s not out of the ordinary for Fender to work with a famous musician on a piece of reissued guitar gear. But when that musician enlists a brand like Filson to help out, that’s an entirely different and far-rarer story. But that’s exactly the case with the Chris Stapleton Edition Fender ’62 Princeton Amp.
Already a legendary tube amp, this special release has been elevated to holy grail-level thanks to a number of factors that include a hand-wired classic 6G2 circuit boasting Stapleton’s favorite sonic features and personally-selected aesthetic touches — like textured vinyl wrapped around its acoustically-resonant pine cabinet and a wheat speaker grille. The 12w combo tube amp also features Fender Vintage “Blue” tone caps, Schumacher transformers, an upgraded Eminence 12” Special Design “CS” speaker, and an output tube-biased tremolo circuit (with a simple one-button footswitch). And the cherry on top of the cake comes in the form of a Filson Rugged Twill fabric cover. Pricing for this magnificent piece of musical equipment is set at $2,000.
