Owning a piece of supercar history is always an attractive investment — even more so when the vehicle in question has remained under the careful purview of one of motorsport’s most prominent stars. Mario Andretti has built an immovable reputation as one of this generation’s most accomplished racers, and now, his 1991 Lamborghini Diablo is being listed for auction.

Accumulating less than 23,000 miles during its tenure, the Lamborghini you see before you spent the majority of its life as one of the driver’s most valued cars. A 485-horsepower 5.7-liter V12 sits within the engine bay, while an immaculate Diablo Rosso colorway preserves the vehicle’s original shade. Mario is said to have kept the car at his Nazareth, Pennsylvania home, where it was sparingly driven alongside a 25th Anniversary Countach dressed in the same trademark color. An original, unmodified tan interior pairs with the vehicle’s upgraded Alpine stereo system and rear wing. Alongside various aesthetic restorations, the Diablo underwent an extensive service in 2018 that introduced a new starter, rebuilt heads, and a new clutch system to the secondhand supercar — resulting in a cost of nearly $40,000. Now, the vehicle is slated for sale at RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island auction in March, with an expected procurement of $150,000.

Purchase: $150,000
