While we love ourselves a good minimalist home in nature, we’re feeling a bit fatigued by all the “rustic cabin” examples we keep seeing, as they’ve been done to death. Thankfully, there are still a few folks out there who have some fresh ideas of what a small living space can be, like Spanish architecture firm Ensamble and their Truffle House.

Presumably named for its resemblance to the coveted wild mushrooms, this unique micro living space looks like it was ripped straight out of the Earth — and it actually was. Ensamble actually poured concrete into a retaining dike (a structure designed to hold back flood waters) and yanked the whole thing out of the ground in order to repurpose it into this gorgeous modern house. They then placed it on a cliffside and equipped it with a large glass window overlooking the ocean, a bed, functional plumbing, and a fireplace. It’s certainly one of the more unique architectural projects we’ve ever seen and we’d be lying if we said we didn’t want to spend a few nights (or more) dwelling in the unique comfort of the Truffle.
