Above the Arctic Cycle on opposing mountain peaks surrounding Hammerfest, Norway rests two shelters dubbed the Day Trip Cabins created by the wondrous minds at SPINN Arkitekter. With the help of Format Engineers and local Norwegian Trekking Association, the egg-shaped cabins were built to be places of refuge for weary hikers, as well as tourist destinations.

The cabins have a stone-like, hexagonal appearance and are a little over 150 square feet. To help thwart off snow naturally and decrease wind pressure, the cabins were given a round shape. Beautiful Kebony cladding was used for the segmented exterior of the cabins, which will progress with a gorgeous patina over time to help the resting places blend in with nature. Inside both cabins, you’ll find a fireplace with a table and seating to take in the cosmic views and smoldering sunsets through a massive window. If you happen to take a trip to Norway, these marvelous mini sanctuaries will be waiting upon your arrival.
