Sustainable practices have been at the forefront of every manufacturer’s list this year, and with a slew of eco-friendly offerings being released into a variety of markets, it was only a matter of time before some of the luxury automotive industry’s biggest names hopped on board. Famed German automaker Porsche has finally unveiled the new 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, a sustainable racer that’s lighter, faster, and more conscious than its forerunner.

The 2019 Cayman GT4 Clubsport is being released in two separate variants: a Trackday model, which is oriented toward enthusiast consumers, and the Competition model, a dead-to-rights performance powerhouse that’s aimed for use by professional drivers. Both offerings will utilize Porsche’s new resin-bound organic fiber bodywork, sourced from agricultural flax and hemp byproducts. The unique blend boasts the same properties as carbon fiber in terms of stiffness and helps to cut curb weight via utilization in the doors and rear wing of the car — catapulting the 3.8-liter flat-six racer into the spotlight alongside the car’s additional 40-horsepower increase, bringing the GT4 Clubsport to a menacing 425-horsepower. Available in February 2019.
