As most people already know, ATV is short for all-terrain vehicle. What you might not know, however, is that — while most ATVs are made to tackle a wide variety of terrain — they’re not necessarily built for all conditions, sometimes getting bogged down by mud, slush, or whatever else. The 2019 Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 High Lifter Edition, however, was made to handle just about anything.
Let’s start with the power plant: this monster of an off-roader boasts a beastly specially-built 952cc engine that pumps out a gargantuan 85 horsepower (for reference, that’s as much as triple the power offered by others in the industry) and features a high and low mud-specific transmission with lower gearing. Of course, that wouldn’t mean much if the works get gunked up, which is why Polaris built this one with 13.5″ of ground clearance, as well as a shielded clutch and engine intake ducting. And that pairs beautifully with its 29.5″ High Lifter Outlaw 2 all-terrain tires, high-mounted front and rear bumpers, a handlebar-mounted mud bar, and a 3,500 lb. Polaris HD Winch (in case you manage to get stuck, though we’re not sure how). Pricing for this mud monster starts at $13,999.
