2019 Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster
The Mercedes-AMG GT R was certainly a hit among automotive enthusiasts, so it wasn’t a huge surprise when the manufacturer revealed plans for their upcoming Roadster variant. Now, the dreams of many have finally been answered in the form of the AMG GT R Roadster, a limited edition droptop run of their top-tier vehicle.
There aren’t many differences between the original hardtop version of the AMG GT R and the newly introduced roadster. In fact, they boast the same twin-turbo V8, widebody, adjustable coilover suspension, and even the same exact active aero design. One would expect a minimal depreciation in performance, but that’s similar, too — the 577-horsepower, 516 lb-ft roadster maintains the same 3.5-second 0-60 sprint as its predecessor and claims a 197-mph top speed in the process. New wheel arch liners, cooling slots, and a bold Designo Graphite Grey Magno matte finish adorn the vehicle. Inside, premium Nappa leather seating and an AMG carbon fiber package dress the roadster from head to toe, while an adversarial shift paddle, steering wheel spoke, and gloss-black seat insert come courtesy of AMG’s interior Night Package. Only 750 convertible platforms are slated for production, meaning you’ll have to act quickly to secure your position among the lucky few.
