Someone wise once said, “It ain’t easy bein’ a G, cause no matter what you did to get on top, there’s always someone trying to one up your game”. Well, maybe nobody ever really said that, but shortly after the debut of the recently released redesign of the militant G Series, MB out-staged the base model SUV with the unveiling of their 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63.

Being the first variant announced on the reworked G Series, the 2019 G63 will see the same overall size increases externally over previous model years, translating to additional room for passengers in every seat. Under the hood, the AMG spec 4.0-Liter V8 is capped with a biturbo system, which pumps out 577 hp and 627 lb•ft of torque, accelerating the wagon from zero to sixty in 4.4-seconds. And for when you’re not trying to break land speed records, the engine features cylinder deactivation to keep fuel consumption down when engine speeds are low. Suspension gets upgraded over the base trim package, with adaptive adjustable damping, an independent suspension up front, and a five-link system in the rear. The interior of the G63 receives a fresh dashboard with two 12.3-inch displays, the completely new AMG performance steering wheel, and finished in nappa leather. Mercedes is expecting delivers of the G63 to commence in late 2018.
