Jaguar Gives A 300-Example 470HP Final Farewell To The Gas-Powered XJ

For the last 51-years, the XJ has stood as a revered staple amongst Jaguar’s illustrious lineup, though next year an electric version is slated to supersede the long-running luxury sedan. In an effort to properly bid the petrol-powered XJ adieu, the British manufacturer is releasing a final edition variant of the model known as the 2019 XJ Collection Special Edition.

Limited to only 300 units — all of which are earmarked for the US market — the XJ CSE utilizes the same long-wheelbase, rear-wheel-drive platform from the XJL Supercharged model: a 470hp, 5.0L V8 married to an automatic eight-speed transmission. Distinguishing the final edition XJ from other existing automotive offerings are 20-inch five split-spoke rims in a satin grey finish (borrowed from the short wheelbase XJ Supercharged), special ‘Collection’ badges on the trunk and doorsills, and a choice of three interior and exterior colors including the iconic British Racing Green. Moving inside, elements unique to the CSE consist of gloss Oak veneer door panels with laser-etched ‘Collection’ inlays, a special wood and leather steering wheel, ‘XJ Collection’ metal tread-plates, and an ‘XJ Collection One of 300’ intaglio decorating the leather dash. The 2019 Jaguar XJ Collection Special Edition has been priced at $85,000.
