Husqvarna is a relatively new contender in the realm of neo-retro motorcycles, with both the cafe-racer inspired Vitpilen and flat-track oriented Svartpilen lines. Their new Svartpilen 701 is the highly anticipated update to last year’s concept, and it was finally unveiled just before this year’s EICMA in Milan.
The bike will feature a 693cc, liquid cooled engine pumping out almost 75 horsepower and 53 foot-pounds of torque. Alongside the carryover engine from the Vitpilen, Husqvarna has decided to utilize the latest electric and design technology with a ride-by-wire electronic fuel injection system, which delivers a consistent, powerful, and responsive feel while contributing to the bike’s tremendous rideability. It will also utilize a beautiful flat-track body style, BREMBO hydraulic disk brake calipers, upside down 43mm forks with split damping, a rear monoshock, and a “removable” BOSCH ABS system for more advanced riders — making this minimalist bike truly stand out from the crowd.
