Astrophotography is a realm that many pictorial connoisseurs dive into once or twice in their lives — after all, the allure of capturing the infinite cosmos and the ability to illustrate the outermost reaches of our planetary system is something that has enamored humanity for centuries. Now, the innovative team at TinyMOS is allowing consumers to explore the stars with the smallest, most accessible Astro-camera ever, the Nano1.

Two years ago, TinyMOS released their first astronomy camera, the Tiny1 — an entry-level camera that allowed users to pair telephoto and dual lens systems with an attractively small, minimalist body. The Nano1 is the evolution of that original design, boasting an even smaller footprint (at 2.46 x 1.65 x 1.13 inches) and a base-weight of around 3.5 ounces, resulting in a package that isn’t a pain to carry out to locations where light-pollution isn’t an issue. The camera will feature Sony’s IMX377 12-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 2.33 IPS touch panel for intuitive interfacing, a 1,200 mAh removable battery, a dual-mount system for use with M12 adaptors (that allow the Nano1 to utilize C-mount glass), and a reverse mount system that pairs the camera with high powered telescopes. Alongside the camera’s innovative “dark noise subtraction” (which helps to cure image noise during low-light exposures), the Nano1 utilizes an augmented reality star map that guides users through the constellations along with exposure presets to simplify astrophotography for less experienced users.
