Hailing from the Scottish Island of Islay, Bowmore is one of the best-known scotch whisky brands in the world and famed for being the oldest licensed distillery in the region. Their No.1 Vaults have been steadily producing some of the most notable whiskies in existence, and recently, Bowmore’s parent company Beam-Suntory announced that they would be releasing one of their best spirits yet — a 1965 single-malt scotch.
The 50-plus-year-old expression is a true gem — with apricot, dried fruit, and floral notes that subtly appear beneath a dark, chocolatey taste. It was one of the first spirits to be prepared with Bowmore’s state-of-the-art heated stills all the way back in 1965, which allowed for greater, more precise control during the whisky-making process. Only 232 bottles are being released, each with their own hand-blown glass container and Scottish wood cabinet. Better yet, the first shipments are taking place this December.
