Most custom 4×4 truck builds, while plenty ambitious, tend to stay between the lines — meaning they don’t alter the starting vehicle a tremendous amount. Which makes sense, as some might call such a task ‘herculean.’ But that didn’t stop the folks at Colorado’s Slee Off-Road from conjuring together this 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser 79-Series pickup truck.

A rare vehicle to see in the states, this Land Cruiser is actually registered and completely street-legal here in the U.S. That’s all the more impressive when you hear just how much customization went into this beast. For starters, it began with a FZJ80 frame which was stripped, sand-blasted, cut, and stretched 13″ to suit the new pickup-style Land Cruiser 79 series body and bed. Then, they dropped in a drivetrain from a 2002 UZJ100, as well as a rebuilt 2UZFE 4.7L engine, low-mileage A343 transmission, and HF2A transfer case. From there, they filled in the gaps with OEM Toyota parts, a Mandrell stainless steel exhaust, and some in-house bits. It’s a monster, but it’s one that Dr. Frankenstein himself would be proud of.
