It’s no secret that the market for classic vehicles has inherently grown every single year, and Aston Martin has been hot on the heels of this trend for quite some time. To ensure that they remain relevant in the race toward innovative electric car conversion and classic restoration, they decided to task Newport Pagnell’s Aston Motor Works with the conceptualization of a groundbreaking heritage EV strategy — eventually realized in this beautiful 1970 DB6 Volante.

The zero-emissions electronic conversion of the car was the result of state-of-the-art technology and innovation that was originally discovered through the production of Aston’s new Rapide E and future Lagonda lineup. The car’s original engine and gearbox play host to the new EV tech, a self-contained cell in the form of a cassette that uses umbilical cords to power the electrical systems in the vehicle. The bolt-on cassette is the world’s first reversible EV conversion, allowing for proprietors of the classic vehicle to “future-proof” their auto while retaining the ability to transition back to the original powertrain with ease. What’s better, the entire system is non-intrusive and maintains the classic look of the vehicle without the addition of unsightly components. The interior of the car remains untouched, including the peripherals and all-original design elements, as well as the classic DB6 MKII silhouette — a worthy testament to Aston Martin’s dream of a minimalist EV conversion.
