If you grew up with Doc Brown and Marty McFly, one of your childhood dreams was to hop into the flying time machine to blast off into the future. Although we don’t quite have flying cars, we do have this incredible, hand-built one-off DeLorean Hovercraft to mimic the feeling of riding the iconic vehicle in the Back to the Future flicks.
This insane project is completely custom built with precise details. The DeLorean Hovercraft is made from styrofoam and fiberglass coated in metallic paint to keep the weight down. It’s lacking a Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor, but it does have a 23 hp Briggs & Stratton Vanguard riding lawnmower-style engine to power the 36-inch thrust fan. It also has a Briggs & Stratton 875 push mower engine to power its 24-inch lift fan, allowing the hull of the craft to hover six to eight inches over various flat surfaces, such as land, water, ice, snow, sand, and asphalt. You can blast Alan Silvestri’s majestic BTTF theme song and ride this off into the sunset at a top speed of 31 mph, in hopes that sparks will fly. Also, 10% of the proceeds will go toward the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research.
