While KTM’s motorcycle catalogue certainly includes a bevy of solid street-going bikes, their expertise is undoubtedly in the realm of off-roading. And their already strong lineup just got even better, thanks to the addition of a pair of brand-spanking-new 790 Adventure Motorcycles.
The primary difference between the two bikes, one called the 790 Adventure and the other the 790 Adventure R, is fairly minimal — culminating in an upgraded WP suspension, longer front forks, and more knobby tires for the R version. Otherwise, the bikes are remarkably similar, both built with the same impressive and compact 799cc parallel twin engine found in the Duke 790 (good for 94 horsepower in each). They also both boast ABS, traction control, slip control, LED lighting, front disc brakes, beautiful full-color TFT cockpit displays, and options for a bunch of other upgrades. And while all of that is excellent, perhaps our favorite adventure-focused feature is that they boast beastly 5.3-gallon gas tanks, giving them an effective range of a whopping 280 miles. They’re not the beefiest adventure bikes in the world, but they’re plenty capable of dominating the mid-weight range.
