Harley-Davidson motorcycles are known around the world to be the vehicle of choice for the boys in blue. Back in the Roaring ‘20s, Harley-Davidson motorcycles were used by about 3,000 police departments in the United States — and they’re still being used today, serving as the iconic two-wheeler for those who protect and serve. One of the rarest models is the 1942 Harley-Davidson UL Police Special.

During WWII, a military version of the UL was produced, however, they were mainly used on the home front and only in small numbers. During the ’40s, police departments were encouraged to use this Harley UL model to lower auto-accidents by utilizing the machine’s power, agility, and dependability. This beefy two-wheeler is a gleaming, pristine example of the UL. It’s powered by a two-cylinder engine with 37 horsepower and stamped with “Texas Highway Patrol” on both sides of the tank. If you’re looking for a unique bike previously used as a law enforcer, this motorcycle will be up on the auction block early next year.
