Way back in 1980, Suzuki unveiled their awe-inspiring Katana sport bike in Cologne, Germany. And for 25 years, it was a staple both of their catalogue and of the performance-focused motorcycle world. That is until it was discontinued. Now, lovers of that classic motorcycle have reason to celebrate, as Suzuki has announced its triumphant return (once, again, in Cologne) in the form of the Katana 1000.

Boasting styling that is both clean and uncluttered, yet still iconic and eye-catching, the new version of this reborn bike offers up plenty to be excited about. For starters, it features a modified version of the GSX-R1000 engine housed in an aluminum frame — giving it a horsepower rating of 150. And that power is only bolstered by the fact that the bike weighs a grand total of just 474 pounds. It also gets a few other modern upgrades. For instance, the headlight is now a brand-spanking-new LED array, while the instrument cluster is all digital. It also boasts Brembo brakes, a Bosch ABS system, and an adjustable rear shock and front forks. No word yet on price, but this reborn bike should hit dealers early 2019.
