With the SEMA show fast approaching, we’re expecting to see some of the best vehicles of the year begin to emerge. And it looks like Chevy has gotten the drop on just about everyone else, as they’re already showing off their new supercharged LT5 6.2L crate engine (the same one found in the 2019 Corvette ZR1) in a surprising old-school body, a 1973 Chevelle Laguna.

For reference, the LT5 is the most powerful production engine ever made by Chevrolet — clocking in with a whopping 755 horsepower and 715 foot-pounds of torque. Which means that this Chevelle Laguna might just be the meanest of the model to ever be built. It also boasts Chevy’s first dual-fuel system, with direct injection and supplementary port injection. And that makes its sinister all-black paint job and carbon fiber hood all the more appropriate. Put simply, this ride is mean as hell and ready to take on anything. If you want to see this one in person, you’ll have to head out to SEMA at the end of this month.
