For a long time, airlines have enjoyed their cushy sinecure as the premium mode of transportation. Cars, trains, and other ways of road-tripping simply cannot contend with the ease of getting on a plane, closing your eyes, and cruising to your destination. But Volvo is taking aim at the titans of transportation with their futuristic 360c Autonomous Concept car.

The 360c is a fully electric first-class private cabin that takes the stress out of travel. With no excessive adornments — things like steering wheels — passengers inside the 360c can stretch out for maximum comfort. Volvo is also intent on helping drivers reclaim the time lost focusing on the road. The 360c won’t just be a bedroom, but a mobile office; a place where work can be completed during commutes that would otherwise be spent focusing on the road. Though big airlines might not want it, this is one concept we hope comes to fruition.
