Perhaps no name is quite as synonymous with exceptional design as Eames. But even the famous mid-century powerhouse couple, Charles and Ray, produced a few concepts that would go unused. As proof that even their throw-aways were still superior to just about everything else out there, the folks at Vitra have paired up with British electronics manufacturer, REVO, to revive an unused design from 1946, resulting in the Eames Radio.

An official collaboration with Eames Office, the exterior of this device is built almost exactly according to the original prototype and blueprints — including a walnut cabinet and the unique 16-circle speaker — but for a few small changes to accommodate the modern tech within. That tech, by the way, appears to include music streaming — though if that means it connects to your smartphone or something like satellite radio remains to be seen. Limited to just 999 examples, this stunning desktop radio is on sale now for $999.

Purchase: $999
