Hoping to ease congestion and enhance the overall quality of urban commuting, Mercedes-Benz just dropped an autonomous modular EV concept vehicle positioned to comfortably transport up to 12 passengers or ten EPAL palettes at once.

Dubbed the Mercedes-Benz Vision Urbanetic, this mobility concept eliminates the separation between people getting where they need to go, goods finding their final destination, and everything in between. Purposed for city living, the concept evokes on-demand sustainable movement to reduce traffic flow and relieve urban infrastructure. At its core, the Vision Urbanetic hosts a self-driving electrically-powered chassis — designed like the base of a skateboard — that can take on different bodies depending on the intended use as either a ride-share or cargo module. The battery-electric drivetrain of the vehicle also delivers zero emissions. Keep an eye out as more info unfolds since this could very well soon serve as a rush hour alternative to sitting in traffic and an autonomous delivery service for that late night fourth meal on the weekend.
