Ford F-Vision Future Truck Concept

As time goes on and we get closer to fully-autonomous vehicles, it’s becoming increasingly clear that one of the first things to be taken over by robots will be large-scale shipping. And while some might decry the advancements as job-destroying, the truth is that the prospect of robo-trucks is safer and a good deal more efficient. Ford appears to agree with that sentiment, as well, as they’ve just unveiled their F-Vision Future Truck Concept.

Unlike some of the other concepts we’ve seen lately, this one is not fully-autonomous — at least not in its current form. The information is limited, as it was just unveiled at the Hannover Motor Show by Ford’s Turkish Otosan division, but the F-Vision is said to feature an all-electric powertrain and a Level 4 semi-autonomous driving system — meaning a human would likely still be in the cab (or at least linked up remotely), controlling at least some part of the operation. Inspired by Marvel’s Iron Man, this is one of the more handsome semi-truck concepts we’ve encountered, but it remains to be seen if this design ever goes into production in its current form.
