Apple iPhone XR

While everyone clamored over the iPhone X when it first came out, we were happy to see that Apple stuck by those with smaller bank accounts by releasing the iPhone 8 and 8+ alongside — especially considering that the tech inside them was still an impressive jump forward. It looks like this year they’re sticking to that pattern with a new budget- and pocket-friendly smartphone they’ve called the iPhone XR (pronounced ‘Ten R’).

Following closely along with the rest of their releases, there’s no denying how beautiful this phone looks — both a product of an impressive edge-to-edge Liquid Retina LCD display that’s the most advanced ever made and a construction of aerospace-grade anodized aluminum. That also means this iPhone has a wide range of color options that include black, silver, blue, yellow, and even a new (RED) edition. You might also notice that, like its siblings, this phone has no home button and can use face recognition, as well as touch to unlock. And, the screen now offers haptic feedback (meaning you’ll actually be able to feel the phone tap back as an acknowledgement of your touch. The cherry on top of the cake, however, is the phones IP67 dust- and water-resistance rating, making this a remarkably tough offering considering how refined it looks.

Of course, all of that would be meaningless if the tech inside wasn’t equally up to speed — which it is. For instance, this phone features the Apple A12 Bionic chip (the best the brand has to offer), that lends unheard of processing speed to this device. It also has a new battery that will give you up to 1.5 hours more than the lauded 8+ that came before it. Similarly, it has a larger display (at 6.1″ and 1.4 million pixels) with a smaller overall case. Better still, the wide-angle 12MP single-camera still boasts the ability to use Portrait Mode thanks to new depth control tech, as does the front-facing camera. All told, you might expect a phone this impressive to be well over the $1K mark — but it’s actually set to sell starting at just $749 when it’s released on October 19th.
