The slender, super-fast Saleen S1 supercar debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in late 2017. More than half a year later, Saleen is on the precipice of taking orders for their demonically speedy coupe.

This year marks Saleen’s 35th of crafting custom vehicles, and they’re celebrating by deviating from their normal modus operandi. Saleen’s conventional forte is the customization of Mustangs. But they’ve switched gears slightly to create a vehicle from scratch. The 2018 Saleen S1 is their second handbuilt model (alongside the S7). Built to be agile, hug corners, and look good doing it, the S1 is smaller than its hand-crafted predecessor. Still, made from an all-aluminum tub, the car is carbon-fiber crafted and plenty powerful, blessed with a 450-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine which also yields 350 lb-ft of torque. With a curb weight of 2,685 pounds, the Saleen S1 is light as a feather and built to soar.
