It can sometimes be hard to tell a custom builder strictly by looking at one of their bikes. That is unless that bike was built by Max Hazan. Every product of Hazan Motorworks is as beautiful as it is iconic and individual. And his 1938 JAP 500 Bobber is no exception.

Completely transformed, this motorcycle was stripped of everything but the bare necessities, yet its styling and form still offer so much to the eye. But it wasn’t without a lot of work — as can be seen by looking at what the bike looked like before it was customized. For instance, the modified rear wheel came off a KTM MX motocross bike, the front end is a custom Chromoly fabrication, and even the gas tank is a special single-gallon number Max put together from aluminum alloy. Of course, all that work and an absolutely stunning result don’t come without proper recognition, as this bike actually took home the $25,000 Golden Bolt award this year — a much-deserved bit of prestige, if you ask us.
