While marketing visionary Steve Jobs gets the lion’s share of credit for building Apple into the world’s first trillion-dollar company, it was his partner Steve ‘Woz’ Wozniak who set the world on fire with the creation of the Apple-1 desktop computer that sold for $666.66 when it was released on April 11, 1976. Now, one of the surviving 60 hand-built examples of high-tech history is headed to auction and expected to sell for over $300,000.

The unit being auctioned has passed a comprehensive technical conditioning report by Apple-1 expert Corey Cohen and operated without fail for eight hours under testing conditions. Additional components in this auction include the original Apple Cassette Interface, original Apple-1 Operation Manual, two original Apple Cassette Interface manuals, a period surplus ASCII keyboard, a period ‘open frame’ Sanyo 4205 video monitor, a new period-style power supply with original Apple-1 power cable and connector, and period cassette interface cables.

Purchase: $300,000+
