For a long time now, LEGO’s Technic division has made the claim that, with their unique take on the toy building blocks, you can “build for real.” While most folks might think that’s just a slogan, the master builders they employ have set out to prove it as fact. And they’ve managed it by building a life-sized, functional 1:1 replica of a Bugatti Chiron hypercar.

Made from over 1,000,000 pieces in total — using over 339 types of LEGO — this scale replica is one of the brand’s most impressive builds of all time. And that’s not just because they got every last detail nailed down exactly right. It’s also because — thanks to a whopping 2,304 motors, 4,032 gear wheels, and 2,016 cross axels — the engine under the hood actually works, giving the car a theoretical 5.3 horsepower and nearly 68 foot-pounds of torque. As if that’s not cool enough, they also gave this impossibly complex toy a working LEGO speedometer and a pneumatic rear spoiler. It’s safe to say that, over the course of 13,438 man-hours of development and construction, the master builders behind this rig have truly outdone themselves.
