IKEA 75th Anniversary Gratulera Series

The year of 2018 marks three quarters of a century for Swedish furniture company IKEA. That’s 75 years of Klippans, Poängs, and Billy bookcases; 75 years of dorm room furnishings and dubious leftover pieces left in the box. In celebration of the milestone, IKEA is relaunching iconic pieces from the period of 1950 to the 2000s, in a collection they’re calling the Gratulera Series.

IKEA sifted through their archives to revitalize some of their most famous furniture from their history. That includes past iterations of the well known Klippan sofa, and a retro-looking Ekenäset armchair, as well as the company’s first ever flatpack item, their 1956 Lövet table, which marked a pioneering moment for the company. These retro pieces bring a high-end, throwback kitsch to any household – but they’re likely not to last. Each decade will be released chronologically in the months of August (’50s-’60s), October (’70s – ’80s) and December (’90s – ’00s). Check out the rest of the collection.
