While some folks might tell you the Dino badge was reserved for Ferrari’s cars that were not quite up to snuff – as they featured less-powerful V6 engines – they were still superb examples of automotive excellence when compared to those not made in Ferrari’s factory. Now, the original 1966 Ferrari Dino Berlinetta GT prototype is headed to auction – and, man, is it a beauty.

A direct and much-improved follow-up to the admittedly stunning but completely impractical Dino Berlinetta Speciale – this is actually the first functional prototype of Ferrari’s first mid-engine car purpose-built for road use. Like its predecessor, this one also features gorgeous coachwork by Pininfarina. And while it was equipped with a relatively-small V6 engine, the 160 horsepower it produced still made it plenty agile. With a slick blue-on-black interior mated to a stunning yellow exterior, this is one of the most historically-significant Dino automobiles ever built – and it’s expected to go for an appropriate $2,000,000 or more by the time the hammer drops at Gooding & Co’s auction.

Purchase: $2,000,000+
