Shelby has always revered reptiles. From their legendary Cobra to their GT500 Supersnake, Shelby’s models are famously venomous. Now, you can own one of the rarest of the slithering sports cars, a 1965 Shelby Cobra Dragon Snake.

In 1965, Shelby created just four of their 289 “dragonsnake” models. The ¼-mile drag car was built for straight-line racers who preferred the quarter-mile track as opposed to the “slow” and steady full race course. All told, only eight Dragonsnakes were ever produced. Of the eight, only four were 289ci models, including this British Racing Green beauty. The mods for this car were as follows: 3.77 rear end, Koni Shocks, FIA style wheels, Stewart Warner Tachometer, Chrome Roll Bar, and shoulder harnesses. It shirked drag race specific wheels and shocks, giving it a more accessible appeal. This particular model has an extensive drag racing history, dating back to the mid-’60s.
